Beach Trip Bonanza

Photobucket
This was probably the last trip of the season unless I decide to start up a polar bear swimming society. However that being very unlikley, Soraya, Shusaku, Jake, and I rolled out to the Floyd Bennet Beach. It was about an hour and a half bike ride out and like two and a half hours back into civilization due to technical difficulties. We met a few people out there and spread our blanket out. We got there a little bit before high tide so just as the relaxation began we couldn't help but notice the tide was definitely threatening our snacking situation!
One of the girls we met out there was thinking on her feet, and started the construction of this moat.

This moat totally saved the day/the snacks/and blankets/etc! It was all good! it did take some steady up keep as the day progressed, party from the water washing it away, and partly from rouge beach visitors walking right through it not paying attention! Luckily the girl who manned the planning and construction of the moat had lots of aditude and yelled at the careless moat treaders. This pleased me and was highly entertaining to watch. While making some moat repairs I realized that there are so many really rad sea shells just chilling everywhere on the beach!
This may seem really obvious to most people but my previous beach experience has always been on "beaches" off of lake eerie and various other great lakes in the mid west. Not exactly tropical isles. Anyway, once this realization went down I ditched my efforts to repair the moat and set off on a full fledged shell search! they are free. i wasn't going to miss out on this opportunity for free shells! So i got about 2 bodega bags full :)

Note to all friends and family, expect googlie eyed shells for Xmas. don't be disappointed. You have been warned.

After the shell search pretty much just chilled w/ Jake talking shit and drinking Coors lights.

Shusaku and his roommate got drunk and they were arguing about philosophy. AKA time to roll home! So we rolled home w/ the most technical difficulites ever! Listed in the following order:
1. Crank fell off josh's shitty mountain bike.
2. Shusaku fell off his bike
3. Jake got a flat tire
4. WTF?! i really thought we weren't going to make it back to civilizatioN!
but we did. other than the technical difficulites over all a success.
