Doesn't this picture totally look like beans has been watching America's Next Top Model and "Practicing her angles"?! HAHA here's Tyra kitty in action!

Oberlin Trip!

So last weekend I took a little weekend jaunt home to ohio to see Tammy and Matt's new crib and officially warm it. They were having a big house warming party so I stopped in to help out/ eat perogies/ soak up the festivities. Here's how it went down!
Here's Dupree begging me not to go b/c then he can't fuck w/ my weekend bag.

Here's me on the plane w/ my BFF a mid-western business man (jk). I travel w/ a professional photographer, its called the "self timer" propped up on a hard back book. Class all the way!

So here's the thing. I feel like I haven't been away from ohio that long. And when I left my god son Solomon was def still a baby. I don't know what the heck happened but he grew into this?!
Photobucket
A real life little kid who is totally big! WTF?! That shit sneaks up on you. The strange thing is that he could grow up so much, and I literally look the same. um. yea...lets not get into it. Moving on!
Photobucket
This is an insect puzzle I got him for his bday, put it to good use!
Here is a little bean bag brother/monster Jessie made for solomon. Its part of a set of two bean bag brothers.

Here's some cheeses I used my skills to arrange beautifully in a beath taking display of crackers and cheeses. Drink it iN!

Here's some legit home made perogies sitting in a pool of melted butter. Thats right. Mashed potatoes wrapped in noodles, sitting in a pool of butter. My stomaches still feels crazy! (regular readers of this blog will see this is a major theme of my life).
Once the Festivities were under way spirits were high! Everyone was in a really good mood and soaking up the ambiance.

At some point Joey picked up a guitar and started freestyling songs. He serenaded his mom with a song thanking her for letting his live w/ her even though he's 23 and how she makes him grilled cheese sandwiches when she totally dosen't have to. Classic.
Photobucket
Here's the grilled cheese maker herself pre-serenade!

This is what no nap + too much fun + candy for dinner will get you....a very tired and grouchy kid with a ripped super hero jump suit! You have been warned!

Photobucket
I feel like I look like a real grown up girl in this picture. That should be noted.

After the party we went into cleveland and caught Matt and Lee's band play at a total BUTT ROCK show at a bar called "now thats class" in Lakewood. I got made into the official photographer as I am a girl, and I wasn't willing to carry heavy equipment. Dems da breaks!
Photobucket
Holdind down my post by the bar.
Photobucket
Gotta watch rock shows in Cleveland! I heard a little rumor that it "rocks" there!
The next day I got feve breakfast w/ Zoma and Schimmy. Im srsly kicking myself i didn't get picks w/ them?! I even brought my camera! I forgot. I def wanted to get some pics of amanda as we share sister blogs and she is the country to my city mouse. Next time! Oh well- after a leisurely breakfast I rolled back to NYC. Here's the happy family in their sufficiently warmed home.
Photobucket
HAHA i just actually looked at this picture! They look so skeptical! Well let me put the critics to rest! That was the best house warming ever!
The end.

Thoughts...

Do you think that my cat might be a manga illustation? Sometimes this thought occurs to me.

Beach Trip Bonanza

Photobucket
This was probably the last trip of the season unless I decide to start up a polar bear swimming society. However that being very unlikley, Soraya, Shusaku, Jake, and I rolled out to the Floyd Bennet Beach. It was about an hour and a half bike ride out and like two and a half hours back into civilization due to technical difficulties. We met a few people out there and spread our blanket out. We got there a little bit before high tide so just as the relaxation began we couldn't help but notice the tide was definitely threatening our snacking situation!
One of the girls we met out there was thinking on her feet, and started the construction of this moat.
Photobucket
This moat totally saved the day/the snacks/and blankets/etc! It was all good! it did take some steady up keep as the day progressed, party from the water washing it away, and partly from rouge beach visitors walking right through it not paying attention! Luckily the girl who manned the planning and construction of the moat had lots of aditude and yelled at the careless moat treaders. This pleased me and was highly entertaining to watch. While making some moat repairs I realized that there are so many really rad sea shells just chilling everywhere on the beach!
This may seem really obvious to most people but my previous beach experience has always been on "beaches" off of lake eerie and various other great lakes in the mid west. Not exactly tropical isles. Anyway, once this realization went down I ditched my efforts to repair the moat and set off on a full fledged shell search! they are free. i wasn't going to miss out on this opportunity for free shells! So i got about 2 bodega bags full :)

Note to all friends and family, expect googlie eyed shells for Xmas. don't be disappointed. You have been warned.
Photobucket
After the shell search pretty much just chilled w/ Jake talking shit and drinking Coors lights.

Photobucket
Shusaku and his roommate got drunk and they were arguing about philosophy. AKA time to roll home! So we rolled home w/ the most technical difficulites ever! Listed in the following order:
1. Crank fell off josh's shitty mountain bike.
2. Shusaku fell off his bike
3. Jake got a flat tire
4. WTF?! i really thought we weren't going to make it back to civilizatioN!
but we did. other than the technical difficulites over all a success.

Secret Japanther Show

Last month I hit up that secret Japanther show on the Williamsburg Bridge. Followed by a roof top soire. The sparks were flowing that dreams were coming true! So we investigated this show to the extent of the law? wait that dosen't make any sense. eveeverythiing about that show was illegal. moving on! Here's some pics.
Photobucket
Photobucket
it was too crowded to really see the band and it was a miracle that we didn't get arrested! success.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Then people realized they could shimmy up the construction equiptment. this was about the time we decided it was best to bounce to the roof top party.
Photobucket
Then the cops busted up that party! WTF?! some kid we were with was sketched out b/c he has warrents, so when the cops came up to tell us all to leave, he started to shimmy down the fire escape?! way to call attention to yourself! then the cops were all "HEY YOU ON TEH FIRE ESCAPE! GO DOWN THE STAIRS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!" haha. classic! Anyway that sparks gave me a tummy ache. Saturday AM fail!

The Hurricane Strikes Again!

The Hurricane blew bean's house over, but she's decided to wait out the storm cause she's a tough cookie.

New Bike Alert!!!

Spoiler Alert! This one's for the bike nerds!

So some of my old friends from pre-NYC timez may recall my Terry Symetry that I cruised around Bloomington Indiana on and turned some heads. I bought my fledgling young bike w/ me to NYC and rode it around for about six months before I got hit by a car! (see myspace blog for the details on that debacle). That was two years ago and that car accident JACKED UP my terry. But the frame remained structurally intact (dispite the disrepect is suffered at the hands of a AM New Jersey commuter). So I kept the frame and vowed that when I had a little bit of money to spare the Terry would be restored to her former glory and returned to the streets where she belongs! So a few months ago with some spare money and time I got the Terry the face lift/botox/tummy tuck she needed and dang she's a beaut!
Photobucket
I got the frame a hot new paint job at Chelsea bikes and built into a single speed. Yes thats glitter in the paint.
Photobucket
Very expensive toe clip straps. dang people will spend retarded amounts of money on stupid little accessories for their bikes if they come from japan. I am living proof of that.
Photobucket
The last thing i am waiting on is this Selle Italia LDY Gel flow White saddle and my steed will be complete.
Photobucket

The guy built me some wheels w/ surly hubs and velocity rims. You might not be able to see in the pic, but the bike has a 24" front and a 700c back wheel so it looks CRAZY.
I already splurged on the basket that perfectly fits a six pack of beer. Let the good times roll!
